This past week, Mira had the honor of opening its doors to a group of teens from Utah Foster Care as part of the BOSS Bus — a summer program that takes youth impacted by foster care on visits to local businesses to explore real-world career paths and imagine what their futures could hold.
The name says everything about the mission. B.O.S.S. stands for Belonging, Opportunity, Support, and Success — four things every young person deserves, and four things our team was proud to offer for a day.
From the moment the bus pulled up, the goal was simple: make these teens feel welcome, seen, and capable.
The day included a full tour of our building, a shared lunch, and plenty of open time to just connect — over games of basketball, cards, and ping pong. It wasn’t a scripted corporate visit. It was real conversation, real laughter, and a real chance for these young people to picture themselves in a space like ours.
The afternoon built toward a conversation led by our CEO, John Taylor, who spoke with the teens about something that shapes every career and every life: the stories we tell ourselves.
He shared stories of perseverance and reminded the group of a truth that’s easy to forget when you’re young and the road ahead feels uncertain — success isn’t defined by where you start. It’s defined by the courage to keep moving forward.
For a room full of teens who have already navigated more than most, that message landed differently. And for our team, watching it land was the highlight of the day.
Impact isn’t a side project at Mira — it’s part of who we are.
We believe in betting on potential, especially in young people who haven’t always had someone in their corner. The BOSS Bus gave us a chance to do exactly that: to show up, to listen, and to remind a group of remarkable teens that their futures are wide open.
We left more grateful, more grounded, and more committed to the kind of company we want to be.
