When mosquitoes take over the backyard, they don’t just ruin a cookout, they keep you inside your own home for half the year. Mira works both sides of the mosquito life cycle, the biting adults resting in your yard and the next generation developing in standing water, with treatment built around your home and the family and pets who live there.
Why Mosquitoes
A can of spray or a backyard fogger knocks down the mosquitoes in front of you, and for about an hour it feels like it worked. Then they’re back. You’re only hitting the adults you can see, and doing nothing about where the next batch is coming from.
Mosquitoes spend the hot part of the day resting in shaded, humid spots, under decks, in tall grass, in dense shrubs, on the undersides of leaves. And they breed in standing water you’d never think to check: a clogged gutter, a flowerpot saucer, a corrugated downspout, a birdbath nobody’s changed in a week. As long as those resting spots and breeding sites are left alone, the yard keeps producing mosquitoes no matter how many you swat. Real control means treating both.
How We Treat
We walk the property to find both the shaded spots where adults rest and the standing water where larvae develop.
We treat the foliage where adults rest and use a targeted larvicide on standing water that can’t be drained.
If mosquitoes come back between visits, so do we, at no extra charge.
For the biting adults, we treat the foliage and shaded areas around the perimeter of your yard, focusing on the undersides of leaves and the dense, humid spots where mosquitoes rest through the heat of the day. When they settle onto those treated surfaces, it brings the population down. This is the part that gives you your evenings back.
For the next generation, we treat the standing water that can’t simply be drained, a pond, a low spot, a water feature, with a targeted larvicide that goes after the larvae before they ever develop into biting adults. Where we can, we’ll also point out the standing water you can empty yourself, since clearing a breeding site is the one prevention step that doesn’t wear off.

Kids & Pets
The usual guidance is to keep children and pets indoors during the treatment and until everything is dry, which usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Once it’s dry, your family and pets can get back to using the yard. Treatments are applied with care and according to the product label directions, and the larvicide used for standing water is targeted to the larvae in the water itself rather than broadcast across your yard.
If anyone in the home has specific sensitivities, or you’ve got pets that spend all day outside, tell us when you book and your technician can plan the visit accordingly. We’d rather you ask than wonder.
The Re-Service Promise
Mosquito control is a season-long job, not a one-and-done. A treatment generally holds for about three to four weeks before sun and rain break it down, which is why service runs on a regular cycle through the warm months. If activity picks back up between your scheduled visits, you don’t wait and you don’t pay extra. Call us and we’ll come back out to re-treat at no additional charge.
It’s part of every Mira service plan: regular treatments through the season, plus re-service in between whenever you need it.

Mosquito pressure depends a lot on where you live and the time of year, and a little prevention between treatments goes a long way. Our mosquitoes pest library covers where they breed, when they’re worst in your area, and the simple things around the yard that make the biggest difference.

Local
Mosquito season hits some of our markets a lot harder, and a lot longer, than others. Across Florida and Georgia the warm, humid season stretches most of the year and mosquito pressure is relentless, Orlando, Tampa, and the Atlanta metro especially. Further north the season is shorter but still intense through summer. Mira treats mosquitoes with local technicians who know when they peak where you live, not a national call center. FAQs
It depends on the size of your yard, how much shaded harborage and standing water it has, and the length of your mosquito season. Rather than guess, we’ll give you a real number for your property. Request a free quote and you’ll know what it costs before you commit to anything.
A treatment generally holds for about three to four weeks before sunlight and rain break the product down. That’s why mosquito control works best as a recurring service through the warm months rather than a single visit, each treatment keeps the population in check while the season is active.

Treatment brings the population in your yard down sharply, but mosquitoes can drift in from a neighbor’s property, a nearby ditch, or standing water beyond your yard. That’s normal, and it’s exactly why ongoing seasonal service matters, since each visit keeps your own yard from becoming a breeding ground again.
