Mira Sponsors “Under the Sea” Prom Night for Teens at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital

At Mira, we believe every family deserves moments of joy, comfort, and normalcy — especially during life’s hardest seasons. That’s why we’re honored to have sponsored the 4th annual Primary Children’s Prom at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

This year’s celebration, themed “Under the Sea,” gave teenage patients the chance to experience a milestone many of them worried they might miss. On Saturday night, patients dressed in their finest formal attire and danced the night away — all without leaving the place that has become a second home during their care.

For teens navigating serious health challenges, an ordinary high-school tradition like prom can feel out of reach. The hospital’s caregivers and volunteers set out to change that. Dresses and ties were made available to every guest, along with special salon and makeup services, so each teen could look and feel their very best for the big night.

And no one was left out. For patients who couldn’t leave their rooms, the team created “prom in a box” — bringing the full experience, from the theme to the dress and makeup, directly to their bedside.

The night belonged to the kids, but the whole hospital showed up for them. Doctors, nurses, child life specialists, and caregivers traded their usual roles for the dance floor, doing their best to keep up with an energetic crowd.

“Being able to take part in these special milestones is such an important part of a kid’s health journey and brings a sense of normalcy to their lives,” said Cheryl Gerdy, RN, nurse director at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital.

That sense of normalcy is exactly what moves us. Mira was built on a simple belief: that home should be a place of peace, protection, and care. Supporting an evening that brought comfort and a little ordinary magic to these families — during an extraordinary time in their lives — reflects everything we stand for.
